COVIDians and their solutions ep. 4: VoiceMed

How to enable accurate results and rapid detection of COVID-19? is a question that has been accompanying us throughout this pandemic that saw testing solutions trade off between fast results and less accuracy and vice versa. What if there was no need for this trade off and highly reliable results were made available in minutes?

In this 4th episode of the COVIDians & their solutions webinar series we feature VoiceMed, a solution enabling the detection of COVID-19 through voice recognition and a few survey questions. The whole process, the founders claim, takes no more than 2 mins. The solution’s artificial inteligence combines real-world data collected from any phone with clinically validated data to achieve the highest possible level of accuracy in detecting COVID-19.

The VoiceMed team has been paving its way down a hackathon winner’s path starting out with 1st place Hack For Italy in the "Save Lives" category, 1st place Hack the Crisis Sweden in the "Save Lives" digital category, 1st place Jump for Italy online hackathon, and being a top finalist at The Global Hack, #EUvsVirus and Hack the Crisis Norway.

In this episode we shall be:

  • presenting VoiceMed to the public

  • pinpointing key moments in VoiceMed's solution development journey

  • discussing the role of AI in healthcare at present and in the future

The panel will be composed of:

➡️Jonė Pukėnaitė (Medical Doctor & Medical Affairs Manager at VoiceMed)
➡️Cedric Tamavond (Agile Coach at Agile Partner & Product Lead at VoiceMed)
➡️Thayabaran Kathiresan (Postdoc researcher at University of Zurich, Speech Scientist at VoiceMed)

The session will be moderated by Inês Boski from Openhack.

TUNE IN LIVE with us from 13.00-14.00 CET on Thursday, 20th August 2020.

About the series: COVIDians & their solutions is a webinar series that aims organized by Openhack to highlight the ongoing success stories of hackers currently developing solutions to the COVID-19 crisis. It follows up from a set of virtual COVID-19 themed hackathons (Hack the Crisis hackathons, EUvsVirus, The Global Hack and more) from where these solutions arose. Each webinar episode features the founder of a solution to be discussed with relevant public and private sector experts knowledgeable about the solution's scope or involved in the solution's development.
