Openhack does The Global Hack

Openhack does The Global Hack

The Global Hack is a global remote hackathon taking place between 9-12th April 2020. It’s a global initiative which unites the Hack the Crisis movement and the 40+ hackathons organized worldwide under this movement. This is truly a global effort involving communities and organizers from all over the world. The goal is to fight the problems we are facing globally in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis as well as creating solutions for the post-crisis world.

Openhack is co-organizing Hack the Crisis Sweden

The new COVID-19 virus is testing our country, our society and us as citizens. Everything that was normal about our daily lives has been put on hold. Currently life, health, and jobs are threatened.

In this critical moment, our task is to work together to solve one of the biggest crises of our lifetime. That’s why we teamed up with DIGGHack for Sweden, and The Swedish Government to put up a 48hr remote hackathon to address this crisis.

The mission is to design, test and execute ideas for the future of Sweden and the world. We want to gather creative ideas and develop concepts in an attempt to create solutions helping us to make further progress in creating the new normal.

This hackathon is an opportunity for all parts of society to contribute – public sector, private sector, academia, non-profit organizations and citizens, who want to join in the fight. Three challenges will be addressed:

  1. Save lives

  2. Save communities

  3. Save businesses

We are looking for and will award concepts and digital solutions in each of these three challenges’ categories.

To participate, you can register either as an individual or as a team, and submit your concept or digital solution in one of the challenges.  So get your friends, colleagues and family to register and contribute with your creativity!

The hackathon runs from Friday, April 3rd 2020 at 15:00 until Sunday, 5th April 2020 at 19.00. A more detailed schedule can be found on www.hackthecrisis.se

We have overcome many pandemics before. We will overcome this one as well. Join us in doing so!
